Newly-promoted Aston Villa are preparing to pursue Manchester United youngster Axel Tuanzebe after the central defender helped them secure Premier League promotion whilst on loan last season.
Tuanzebe, who has now had two loan-spells at Villa Park, has become a fan favourite during his time in Birmingham and Villa are now set to try their luck at signing the 21-year-old on a permanent deal.
Though highly-rated by fans, it’s unknown what United’s or Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s stance is on Tuanzebe and Villa hope to complete a deal for a fee in the region of £8m, according to the Daily Mail. Should that fail, a third loan-spell with an option to buy could be a possibility.
It’s likely Tuanzebe will be given a chance to shine during the club’s pre-season tour, where opponents such as Perth Glory, Leeds United, Inter, AC Milan and Tottenham across locations such as Australia, Singapore, China and Wales.
The search for a central-defender continues, with West Ham’s Issa Diop the latest to be linked with a move to the Theatre Of Dreams. This summer will be an interesting one, to say the least, as the futures of players such as Tuanzebe will test if Solskjær is serious in what he says about United’s DNA and use of players from the academy.
