Paul Pogba’s outspoken agent, Mino Raiola, has again gone public with comments defending the World Cup winner, suggesting that he has shown Manchester United respect and deserves protection from the club.
This comes after comments last week in which Raiola backed Pogba’s claims of seeking a new challenge, publicly stating the French international’s willingness to leave Old Trafford.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the headline-grabbing agent said: “The player has done nothing wrong. He has been respectful and professional in every way and always. The club has known his feeling for a long time.”
Then, in typical Raiola-fashion, he brazenly went on to suggest the club should do more to protect Pogba amid widespread criticism for his handling of the current situation, saying: “It is a shame other people only like to criticise without the right information, and I am also sorry that the club does not take any position against this,” the Italian added. “Hopefully there will be soon a satisfying solution for all parties.”
On Sunday, Pogba was reunited with his team-mates for the first time after recently making clear his desire to leave, joining them on their flight to Perth for the start of United’s pre-season tour and beginning training with the squad on Monday.
Raiola’s baffling comments are clearly another attempt to intimidate United into sanctioning a move away for Pogba, though he is right about the need for this whole saga to soon come to a “satisfying solution”. The club will only be further damaged by this dragging on all Summer, damage the club can ill afford to take on into the new campaign.
