Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær has spoken about new-addition Harry Maguire and the strengths fans can expect to see in the England international’s debut season at Old Trafford.
Maguire, who has promised to give everything for the club already, was the club’s number one target in their quest for a central defender and a deal was announced on Monday following an agreement with Leicester City worth £80m.
After Maguire’s move was confirmed, Solskjær was full of praise for the 26-year-old, telling the club’s website: “Harry is one of the best centre-backs in the game today and I am delighted we have secured his signature.”
“He is a great reader of the game and has a strong presence on the pitch, with the ability to remain calm under pressure – coupled with his composure on the ball and a huge presence in both boxes. I can see he will fit well into this group both on and off the pitch. He has a great personality and is a fantastic addition to the club”, the Norwegian added.
United are expected to pursue a midfielder before Thursday’s transfer deadline, with Paulo Dybala and Bruno Fernandes the two names most talked about, though it’s not known whether either will be completed with Dybala’s desire to remain at Juventus and the BBC reporting that Fernandes is not one of Solskjær’s targets.
