Manchester United are in talks to sign Belgium and Paris Saint-Germain right-back Thomas Meunier as the club begin to grow frustrated over a lack of progress on a possible deal for Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Meunier, a United fan himself, is expected to leave Paris and with United in the hunt for a right-back, a deal worth £22m is said to be in the works.
With long-term servant Antonio Valencia set to depart this summer and Ashley Young’s decline only continuing, Meunier would create competition with Diego Dalot on a right-flank that has been underwhelming for more than the last few seasons for United, with the squad still lacking a threat on the wing.
To complete a deal, United are expected to face competition from Arsenal and Everton who are both also keen on the 27-year-old. However, Meunier being a supporter of the club is likely to aid the Red Devils in negotiations with the player.
According to the Mail, a deal for Meunier would be for a fee of around £22million, compared to the £60million asking price from Palace for Wan-Bissaka, despite the 21-year-old only playing senior football for two season’s and an international cap still alludes the promising talent.
Belgian outlet DH also says a move to Old Trafford for Meunier is likely to happen due to his dream of joining the club since he was young.
