Manchester United reportedly lead the race for RB Salzburg striker Erling Braut Håland with the 19-year-old currently causing major excitement in world football following his emphatic start to the season.
The Norwegian’s excellent start includes a record of scoring 26 goals in 18 appearances this season, leading him to admit he sleeps with his five hat-trick match balls, labelling them as his ‘girlfriends’.
According to Norway’s Dagbladet, via SportWitness, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær wants to bring Håland to Old Trafford and the Red Devils are ‘far ahead’ in the race. The story perhaps has more legs to it given the pair previously worked together during Solskjær‘s time as FC Molde manager.
Speaking to TV2, Håland previously revealed: “I have dreamed of playing for the best clubs in the world my whole life, and I especially like English football.“
With the growing importance of Anthony Martial within the United side in the number nine role and Marcus Rashford’s surge of good form, many fans believe adding Håland in January may be disruptive to the partnership developing between the two. However, a summer move is hard to argue against given the lack of forward options following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sánchez.
