After weeks of reports linking Manchester United to Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes, the club are ready to launch a formal bid for the Portuguese star.
It’s been widely reported that Fernandes had already agreed personal terms with United having been offered a lucrative deal to join Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s side, though no concrete offer has been made from the Red Devils.
The Independent report United will send a proposal to Lisbon over the next three weeks in an attempt to complete a deal for the 24-year-old. Though there has been some disparity between the valuations of Lisbon’s talismanic midfielder, United are confident of getting a deal done for a fee in the region of £50m.
United fans will also be happy to hear that Fernandes is believed to be a target regardless of whether Paul Pogba stays at Old Trafford or not. Solskjær will be keen to bolster his midfield to help distribute the creative workload and become less reliant on Pogba.
United’s interest in Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff remains, although James Garner’s pre-season form could give Solskjær something to think about regarding his midfield for the upcoming campaign.
The club have been linked with Fernandes for the majority of the transfer window and fans will be hoping a deal will be wrapped up sooner or later.
