Manchester United will attempt to sign Juventus’ forward Mario Mandžukić as well as Paulo Dybala in a separate deal, according to reports.
Mandžukić was linked with a move to Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho in 2018, and though a move never materialised, the Croatian is said to be keen on a move this summer.
According to Calciomercato, Mandžukić actively wants to join United and has been keen on the proposition offered to him by the club. The deal, which would cost the Red Devils a fee in the region of €15m, would be separate from the one involving Romelu Lukaku and Dybala in a swap deal, the outlet claims. It’s also believed the attempt to bring Dybala to Manchester is the priority, and interest in Mandžukić stemmed from learning he was available whilst in negotiations with the Bianconeri.
With the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo last year and Maurizio Sarri’s appointment this season, Juventus’ attempt to taste Champions League glory continues and with Lukaku on the verge of a move to Turin, the Italian club need to cut ties with some of their attacking options, Mandžukić and possibly Dybala included.
The story has also been backed up by transfer news guru Gianluca Di Marzio, who claims Mandžukić is of interest whilst only image rights and small details are holding up Dybala finding an agreement with United. A much-needed flow of good news after weeks of nothing, for fans of United.
