Manchester United new-boy Harry Maguire has revealed he will ‘give everything’ for the club after his £80m move from Leicester City to Old Trafford was announced on Monday.
The 26-year-old England international signed a six-year contract, with the option to extend for a further year and will wear the number five shirt.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Maguire said:
I am delighted to have signed for this great club. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Leicester and would like to thank everyone at the club, and the fans, for their fantastic support over the past two seasons. However, when Manchester United come knocking on your door, it is an incredible opportunity.
”From my conversations with the manager, I am excited about the vision and plans he has for the team. It’s clear to see that Ole is building a team to win trophies. I am now looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and getting the season started.”
Maguire, who spent a chunk of his career in the lower leagues of English football, has admitted the experience of playing in such leagues has made him a better defender, explaining: “Experience is a big thing. You play a lot of games as a young boy and you learn like I did in League One and moved up to the Championship. I felt that really helped me.”

“First and foremost, I see myself as a good defender, that’s my main thing. I’m in the team to stop goals and keep clean sheets. I’m really proud to be here at such a big club and I’m really looking forward to getting started. I’m a team player, I’ll give everything I can for the team and give everything I’ve got for this club,” the former Foxes defender added.
