The agent of Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelöf has confirmed a ‘top European club’ have expressed an interest in his client with rumours linking the Swede with Barcelona circulating.
Hasan Cetinkaya, Lindelöf’s agent, has said that the defenders future this summer is dependent on United, perhaps hinting the 24-year-old wouldn’t be against a switch to Spain.
The search for reinforcements in central defence continues and Leicester City’s Harry Maguire seems to be the club’s first option, continuing with the recruitment strategy of British talent this summer. However, should Lindelöf seek a move to La Liga with Barcelona, given his rise to becoming United’s key centre-half last season, it would throw a major spanner in the works for Ole Gunnar Solskjær who cannot afford to lose a key figure in his back-four.
Speaking to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Cetinkaya said: “Lindelöf is on the radar of a great European club. But leaving United depends on the English club.”
The Red Devils were linked with a move with Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti last month, though the Catalan club wanted Lindelöf at Camp Nou for any deal for the Frenchman to happen, an unlikely scenario with the United defender’s popularity amongst fans after a worrying start to his time at Old Trafford.
