Maguire – who has been the subject of negotiations between United and the Foxes all summer – will become the world’s most expensive defender following his move to Old Trafford.
The deal is subject to a medical, though a deal was finally agreed on Friday morning after weeks of talks between the two Premier League clubs. Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers had denied that any agreement had been reached earlier this week, but the Red Devils look to have matched the fee demanded by the East Midlands club.
The 26-year-old defender is set to have a medical with the club on Saturday morning in a deal worth £80m, with a further £5m to be paid in add-ons. The transfer, if completed, will surpass Liverpool’s purchase of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in 2018 for £75m.
Maguire has worked under United Assistant Manager Mike Phelan before during their time at Hull City and has also featured alongside United players in Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Ashley Young on the international stage during England’s World Cup campaign.
With the centre-back chase coming to a close, United are expected to turn their attentions to Juventus’ Paulo Dybala with negotiations over a potential swap deal with want-way striker Romelu Lukaku.
