Manchester United are reportedly willing to match Borussia Dortmund’s demands for 19-year-old star Jadon Sancho, thought to be a fee in the region of £100m.
The winger was linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer, with Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc confirming an approach was made by the Red Devils, though no concrete offer was made.
In a report by the Mirror, United are willing to meet the £100m price-tag slapped on Sancho’s head to bring him back to England after he left Manchester City in 2017 in the hunt for first-team football.
Sancho has been linked with multiple clubs within Europe’s elite, such as Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea, whose emergence of English talent under Frank Lampard could be appealing to the Bundesliga forward. Interest from Manchester City to bring him back to the Etihad has also been spoken of, but it’s unlikely Sancho would return to the club he had to leave to develop himself.
Should Sancho indeed opt for a return to Manchester under Ole Gunnar Solskjær, United’s forward options considerably improve, adding Sancho to Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James, who all remain under 23-years-old. Not only does the Dortmund star’s age and potential make the sky-high fee worthwhile, but his current form would also majorly boost a United side lacking in creativity and goalscoring output.
In the Bundesliga this season, Sancho has nine goal contributions in eight games, scoring three and assisting six. His Champions League form differs, however, not registering a contribution in three games so far for Dortmund. The London-born talent’s performances for England have proved he’s more than capable of handling the pressure on the big occasions though, despite his age.
