Former Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs has heaped praise on United new-boy Daniel James after the Welshman’s superb start to the season, scoring four goals in the six games he’s played for club and country.
James, who arrived at Old Trafford this summer for a fee in the region of £20million, was widely expected to be one for the future by many but has already won both United’s Player of the Month and Goal of the Month award for August at his first attempt.
Speaking after Wales’ 1-0 win over Belarus, thanks to a James winner, Giggs spoke glowingly about the 21-year-old, telling Sky Sports: “He’s one of those players you know what he’s going to do but you can’t stop it. There are so many goals [he’s scored] like that. He can go either way.”
“Early on when I saw DJ, just like any young winger, there can be that improvement in the final ball and scoring more goals. But he’s doing that. To do what he’s done at the start of the season is amazing. The next step obviously is that consistency, which he’s shown so far and he needs to carry on.”
“But I’ve got no doubts that will happen because he wants to be the best,” Giggs added.
